Posting By Ko Minjin-W7. (고 민진)

1) The best memorable content in Week7.
(1)This week link is a story about the deviation. Deviation is the act of violating cultural norms. As introduced in the link, deviant behavior is divided into two thing. The first, official deviate. Official deviation is a violation of the legislation in society. Namely, such as a criminal offense:rape, murder, assault, theft and so on.
The second is the unofficial deviation. Informal deviation is a violation of the norms of society. That deviation is defined an act that outside the tolerance range of the society norm. (that behavior departing from acceptable level to the community members.) Here, we can see the characteristics of the deviation. Deviation is relative. That is, deviation is accepted differently depending on the time and space conditions. For example, during the semester, Dyed students are Deviants, but during vacation, students can freely dyeing. So we learned more about the concept of deviating from this link.
(2)How sociologist would have looked the deviations theory? So I studying various theories on deviation.
1-Durkheim’s Anomie (disordered state).
에밀 뒤르켐(Emile Durkeim)
http://terms.naver.com/
one of deviation theories is anomie theory. When past norms are disappeared and a new norm appear, This deviation occurs. That is, the deviation occurs when the social discipline that control personal needs and behavior is not exist. Therefore, the accumulation of certain norms are needed to get the deviant behavior disappears.
2-anomie of Merton (purpose-means divergence).
Anomie of Merton and Durkheim's anomie is a different concept. Merton's anomie is occur when the goal that society members want to achieve is exist, but the means that can achieve goals is not exist. For example, the goal of capitalism is 'money'. But the lower class commits a crime because there is no means to earn a lot of money.
3-labeling theory.
That is theory that how the others react to personal conduct. For example, when a upper class children and lower class children romp the same acts, other people’s reaction is very different. people understand a upper class children action but they scold a lower class children. Therefore, people requires a careful attitude to a negative stigma for others.
4-Conflict theory.
Conflict theory is introduce in other Wikipedia link. That theory is facing the society. The theory is applied to the deviation. This deviant behavior is defined by the dominant groups. Dominant groups define a deviant behavior to preserve their authority. So they control people through regulation of the deviant behaviour.
5-Differential association theory.
The theory is that individuals learn deviation while contact with deviant constantly. For example, student that do not smoking learn smoking during contact with smokers constantly. In order to solve this problem, people do not contact with deviants.

2) my feeling about this link.
Here is a deviation theory that I studied. This overlooking the deviations theory are quite a lot. There is no objective norms that define the deviation. In other words, in society, people interact with each other and define a deviation. For example, In the United States, they kiss with friendly people and it is natural action. But in the Korea, it behavior give pain in the neck.
Also secondly interesting thing is the labeling theory. We unintentionally will get a stigma to others. And that he stigma give a broken heart. So I feel that I will do not give negative remarks and I should do a lot of positive stigma to other people.

3) My question in this link.
In this link, I wonder other theory about deviation except for the above 5 theory. If you know another theory, you can tell me about my question! I really grateful to your kindness. Give your comment! Let's share the story about this link!
