#SUMMARY

-DEVIATION-
This link is about a deviation. Deviation is thing against the cultural norms. This

notion is relative as professor talked in last lecture. In deviation, there are formal deviance to break away from law and informal deviation to break away from moral out of law. In a link, there are given many theories. First of all, it is about strain social typology. This is treated deviation behavior theory that have two criteria (cultural goals and means of attaining those goals). Cultural goals means ideals and values that it might be construed as a desirable goal for members of society. Means of attaining those goals means things like the law. In this theory, there are Conformity(+ / +), Innovation(+ / -), Ritualism(- / +), Retreatism(- / -), Rebellion(+,- / +,-). The second one is Structural Functionalism. It is theory that deviation is Socially important function. The third one is Conflict theory. It is theory about Unequal relationship between power and resources. Deviation is behavior to survive from lack of material resources. The last theory is Labeling theory. That label is attached to a deviation. Also, they will build a label to indicate their identity. And this link discusses crime rate. Incarceration rates and populations, gender, race, homicide. Then, this link discusses the social control. Social control is means used by a society to bring social members back into line with cultural norms. In social control, there are "formal social control" and "informal social control". Finally, this link discussed the current research. Video games, tatoo, sexual violence on college campuses.

#MENTION

I am interested in Robert K. Merton's deviant behavior theory. When I read this link, I thought why does he divide to two criteria? Also, I thought difference between cultural goals and means of attaining those goals. After few minutes, I realized, “Oh!”. I can not write, but I realize in mind. There was “eureka!”. So, I think that was the most interesting part.

Next, I am interested in Tattoo. Tattoo have been regarded as an icon of rebellion for a long time. But now, Tattoo is one of icons to record their own faith and identity. I think many people think so.

 

#QUESTION

In sexual violence, male are most likely to commit a crime than female. But does sexual violence is always that male commits to female? Now, crime that female commit to male in sexual violence happens not a few. By the way, there are many people that see these crimes is light. When male commited, public opinion was more noisy than female's case. I watched much aspect that public opinion was more carefully and they said "why?" when female commited. What do you think about it?
