These readings deal with culture and religion that are branches of society
Culture is everything that related all of social life and learned by human. Culture is social aspect of human life and culture also shows many things about individuals. In the past, people had cultural absolutism that think to exist culture sophisticated than others, in present, but sociologists proceed study with cultural relativism and try to understand the culture.
Religion is group that revere sacred things and supernature(like god) or ask the fundamental question of human life. Through this definition of religion, sociologists study to understand religion, further sociologists study to understand the aim of religion and significance of religion. Religion is related to many part of human life and can see a element of culture.
Opinion
I’m interested the fact that culture not only maintain order but also reproduce existing inequality. Also, I’m regrettable that various notions of culture are used to justify inequality. For focus on maintenance of social order, We should try to remove the justification of inequality in culture and have proper value of cultural relativity.
Question
I wonder why some scholars thought level of religiosity don’t decline. There is the case that atheist is changed to devout christian, so I think also exist the case that devout christian lose religious faith, but why some scholars argued it don’t, I want to find the cause.
