Sociology investigates society and founds theory by using systematic and scientific methods. There are positivist approach that doing quantitative deductive study and qualitative sociology approach that doing qualitative inductive study.

the theories are important because it can propose cause in society, bring relationships of social life and discover the aspect that sociological phenomena occur. Sociological theory has two components that is data and relationship between each concepts. By aggregating data and realizing the connection between each concepts, sociologists can understand the relationship and found or develop the theory.

I’m amazed the fact that only if theory has components of data and relationship, we can verify the connection of each events and specify the cause. I learned that theory exists by having necessary components and insight of society is possible by existing theory.

Is ‘suicide’ of durkheim’s classic work still valid?

the text is a lot of mention about Durkheim. Among them, I’m interested ‘suicide’ of Durkheim’s classic work. I wonder how durkheim analyse the problem of suicide that is today’s important issue at that time. I want to interpret the today’s problem of suicide with durkheim’s analysis and check weather durkheim’s analysis is valid.
