▶ Methods
Last time, we studied about what Sociology is. This time, we study about a little bit of how to study sociology. First one is method. There are quantitative approach and qualitative approach. Both approach employ a scientific method. Quantitative approach use deductive reasoning to explain and foresee social phenomena. And qualitative approach use inductive reasoning to understand social phenomena. We would be better off using both of them.
Also I had more interesting when I was reading 'Correlation and Causation' part. I have no idea about difference between correlation and causation. But when I see that subtitle, I thought about the difference in first time. The image in that link help me to understand better.(This is the link of the image which I said! https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/93/Correlation_vs_causation.png)
▶ Theory
In sociology, theory is very important because we use theory to understand the society around us. We shouldn't think theory as 'which is better?' but as complementary. Before I read this link, I think I should choice theory which is fit with my idea.
And I am interesting with studying limitation of each theory. After I got that view(see theory as complementary), I can realize that perfect theory is nonexistent. While I am reading about theories such as role theory, symbolic interactionism, conflict theory, structural-functionalism, I wonder how many theories are exist in sociology. I am look forward to study about more theories.

ReplyDeleteI agree you. I think perfect theory is hardly possible. I just think complementary approach is best. Sociologists mustn't enforce only one theory.
ReplyDeleteYour postting is a well organized postting!! I'm impressd for your posting!!! And I agree perfect theory have limitation.
ReplyDeleteI agree you too. I think there is no perfect theory with no error in the world.
