summary and my opinon
 
The main objective of the sociologist is to explain social phenomena.
This article is to introduce the methods employed by sociologists in their study of people in social life.
Sociologist analyzing about the society.
The sociologists use quantitative approach and qualitative approach to analyze a society.
Quantitative approach is meant to collect and quantify the empirical data.
Conversely, qualitative approach has an interest in the subjective act of people in society.


 
Theory is also important in sociology.
To understand the social world around us, it is essential to adopt a theory.
In such a theory, to exist Structural-Functionalism , Conflict Theory , Symbolic Interactionism
Structural-Functionalism highlights the stability, sustainability, integration and order and so on.
Conflict Theory explain social conflict is a universal phenomenon.
In contrast , Symbolic Interactionism is a theoretical approach to understanding the relationship between humans behavior and human society.
 
 
 
 
 
Like this article, I think the ethical side in experiments is very important.
Ethical considerations are of so much importance, I learned sociologists adhere to a rigorous set of ethical criteria.
Examples of these principles, first, The study of children and young people always need parental consent.
Second, that anonymity and confidentiality will be ensured.
Third, there must be no coercion.
Because to experiment with such people, I think that it is important above all to protect the ethical part.

  1. I agree that in the W2 feels interesting ethical aspects of sociology.
    Ethical considerations are very important.
    The study of children and young people always need parental consent is good examples.
    However, what if parents let the wrong research of ethical?
    Anyway, it is a good opinion! :)

  2. That's right. Sociologists should follow ethics of research. Sociologists who don't follow ethics of research are disqualified. But...those are practically very difficult. Can anybody follow all ethics of research?
