(a) Culture
Humans are consist of combine with the biological elements and certain cultural factors. The culture includes norms, values, beliefs, expressive symbol and so on. The origin of the culture starts to create collective life in the process human evolution. Each group had formed a unique life style, which delivered and learned to descendants. The times go on, it become ‘Culture’. Usually, people think culture would not change because culture was learned from ancestor, but actually it is culture that can change at any time due to circumstances, inventions, exchange. Furthermore, there are ‘subculture’ only partially shared among members within cultures and ‘counterculture’ conflict to main culture. Often people express the culture through the narrow concept of ‘luxury of being’, It makes people fill difficult to understand other’s culture. This concept began to modify in the late 19th century. Religion is combined with a variety of social factors such as gender, race, class, education, and health. So religion is one of the targets in sociology to understand. For example, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism are the most famous religious. To search religion, first it must specify how you define the religion. There are 3 types definition. 1. find the sacred from the secular, 2. questions about existence. 3. a collection of ritual and belief in the supernatural. After finish the definition, next step is classification. When conducting classification, mainly used thing was 'The church-sect typology' devised by Max Weber. The theory also exists for understanding religion as a sociological (structural-functional, social-conflict, social constructionist, religious pluralism, social-psychological). In modern, religion is still to effect a significant impact on people's lives and scholars also predicted that there could appears religion secularized or religious fundamentalism in future.

Opnion

this reading had relatively familiar topic for me. In culture, I reminded the history of culture, need of relativism and importance of culture in sociology. And I impressed the paragraph 'culture is a process that negotiate a suitable culture'. In religion, I'm interested  in  relationship between religion and social factors(ex. gender, race, class, education..etc). I'm suprised to religion was tied with our lives more than I thought.and I  think about religious fundamentalism because of IS, terrored to the whole world.

Question

If I will get a chance, I want to learn about classification in religion more correctly. I can't understand perfectly yet...
