The W 10
deals with two topics. Topic 1Race and Ethnicity,
topic 2 is Gender.
Topic 1
Ethnicity is determined
inherently and acquired. In acquired, Ethnicity is determined by social
characteristics that nationality, tribe, religious faith, shared
language, shared culture, shared traditions. Race is determined inherently. In
other words,
will inherit
parents '
race that skin color, face shape, hair color.
People are wary that looks
something different me and To determine
if
it is
superior
or
inferior
than herself. Because of this will
create
racial
discrimination. Racism is divided into level
-
individual
racism, structural racism, cultural racism, historical racism, color blind
racism. I think there is no
racial
gap. If there is racism, we will help
a
poor
race
and
we should
not be ignored. In
addition, racial discrimination is to ignore
a basic human
dignity
and
tread down a human’s right. Racism is immoral, therefore, very
bad
crime.
Topic2
Gender and sex looks the same and different. gender is
associated with society,
sex is associated with biology. To be more specific,
sex is a word used to distinguish between the XY
chromosome and the XX chromosome and Gender is a word that represents
the behavior pattern of sociologically distinct people.
There are many
theories about gender. For example, Gender
Socialization, Structural Functionalism, Conflict Theory, Symbolic Interaction,
Feminist Theory etc. I will talk about Structural Functionalism and
Conflict Theory. Structural Functionalism says that the division of
roles between men and women is to maintain a stable society. In Conflict
Theory, however, I have the opposite opinion of Structural Functionalism.
In Conflict Theory, the role division between men and women argues that men
have more power than women, so men play a more favorable role than women.
Question
Why do Koreans
ignore Southeast Asian people Koreans knowing that racial
discrimination is bad?
ReplyDeleteI read your post well~!!
I think Korean people are not tolerant of foreigners.
It has a lot of stereotypes about foreigners as well as Southeast Asian people. Is it not because of the lack of education about diversity of culture from childhood and the emphasis on single ethnic group seems to have influenced such.
Because most of them are engaged in industries that are avoided by Koreans, called 3d industries (dirty, difficult, dangerous industries) in Korea.
ReplyDeleteSome Koreans think they do not care because they are engaged in such industries.
There are also cases where Koreans feel the superiority of their country because Southeast Asia are poorer than Korea.
Now that we are entering a multicultural society, this attitude of the Korean people must change.
