My Thoughts & Questions
Abuse of the elderly is a very important issue. The news also shows that there are many news that old neglected people are dying and news that young people are beating elderly people.
I think young people should have a little more concession and consideration. But I think the elderly should not take it for granted.
Nowadays society is going beyond the aging society and becoming an aging society.
These societies will increase the burden of young people.
I think we should have a law and a job. I would like to ask if there is any solution.
An aging population is one of the challenges faced by countries around the world, and each have their own ways of solving this. From my home country of Singapore, the government set up a compulsiry savings scheme called the Central Provident Fund (CPF), which forces the workforce to allocate part of their income into an account controlled by the government. The employer also has to contribute a certain percentage of the employee's pay, separate from their salary. The amount saved can be used to pay for medical bills, a child's education, housing and other neccessities in life. Upon retirement or old age, the government allows one to withdraw the amount saved if that amount hits a certain minimum.
ReplyDeleteThis system is often under criticism, as people prefer to have full control over their finances. However, I feel that it serves quite a good purpose as a general means of ensuring that no one will go homeless or face problems in seeking medical treatment. I guess since everyone is different and have different goals in life, some are not satisfied with this method of government intervention.
When elder abuse occurs, it is necessary to punish violence and prevent the recurrence.
ReplyDeleteHowever, as the punishment and welfare for the elderly are strengthened, it is also true that the burden of young people increases.
But that burden is inevitable.
Everyone should not try to avoid such burdens because they are one day older.
However, the elderly who have the labor force think that they should work for the production of the nation rather than depend on the money which is given in the country unconditionally.
Therefore, it is necessary to increase employment for the elderly in the country.
