1) summary
Today, I read collective behavior and social movements article, and I summarize this article. Collective behavior means social events which emerge in a spontaneous way. Collective behavior seems that deviant. Traditional society divide collective behavior by the crowd, the mass, the public and the social movements. And a crowd is people who have similar thinking and share common purpose or influence. A crowd divide into four types. casual, conventional, expressive, acting crowds. And there are some theories to see a crowd. contagion theory, convergence theory, emergent-norm theory, crowds as "gatherings". There are many phenomenon in a crowd. Some people have panic in emergence situation, or some people raise a riots, or a crowd have mass hysteria, or a crowd have feds so some people wear a clothes of temporary trend, or some people have rumors of course this rumor is not confirmed or a lie.
Social movements are social alliance that prevent social change or pursue social change. Modern society distinguish social movements in four types. democratic, labor, ecological, peace movements. And there are various theories to analyze these social movements. These various theories are deprivation theory, mass-society theory, structural-strain theory, resource-mobilization theory, political process theory, and culture theory.

Some people in groups want to reform the current situation, or some people want to keep going. So, by learning this article, I can analyze my groups which I belong to again. And I expect Piotr Konieczny’s class.
3) Question
I have a question for you. What theory do you see social movements?
I read the post well. Hyun Jong. And I will answer your question. It is hard to answer your question clearly. Because I studied Social Movements this time and it seemed that several theories seemed reasonable. I think it is not right to stick to any one theory.
