1_What I learned with 13th week Wikipedia link.

#Defining Families
In past, the meaning of family was limited to genetically related individuals; those we typically think of as kin. However, as society becomes more diverse, the definition of family has changed. In addition to blood ties, it has become a society that can accommodate various types of families such as marriage, adoption, pets, and children who grew up in orphanages, etc.

#Function of Families
The primary function of the procreative families is to reproduce society, biologically through procreation, socially through socialization, or in both ways. In other cases, procreative families utilize marital privileges, rights and laws. The primary functions of non-procreative families is to facilitate social, economic, emotional, and interpersonal support networks, combine resources for the pursuit of financial gain and stability, and so on.

#The Sociobiology of Families
In almost all societies, marriage between brothers and sisters, or marriage between first/distant cousins is forbidden. These sorts of restrictions are a form of exogamy. Such the incest taboo may serve to promote social soli
darity.

2_Mention & Question about this week study.

The topic of this week article, family, was interesting to me. This article was started by the question about the definition of the family. And while I read the article, I recognized that my answer to this question was too simple. It was also good to know the role of family members within the society. I just thought it was only a function of the ability to allow society to survive through reproduction, but it has come to a wide range of functions: socialization, etc
When I read about the definition of family, I wondered if there would be a society where gay marriage would be accepted all over the world someday. I want to hear classmates' opinions!

Thanks for reading my posting : )

  2. I think someday gay marriage will be allowed worldwide. As time goes by, the respect for the various values is getting stronger, so someday gay marriage will not feel strange, and society will come naturally.
