Yes. Our modern world are peaceful compare to the past for several resons.

 

Let's compare the legal system first. In the past, legal system were not humanitarian─there were even law 'eye for an eye'. But, as time goes by, legal system nowadays are humanitarian and become more reasonable.

 

Changes in government system are also one of the factors. For example, in the past, in Monarchy government system, king or queen had almost all of authorities─Their saying was law. In present, most countries are democracy. All citizens have rights to their own country.
