What kind of symbols do we think of?
>> There are many kinds of symbols. There are many symbols such as a symbol that conveys meaning with a color like a traffic light, a symbol given to a thing that interprets a rose as a love, and a symbol given to a pose that we take when we take pictures. And these symbols have different meanings in each culture. For example, the act of picking up a thumb with the sense of being good for us may mean disgrace in other cultures.
Korean people
- are not very religious
- value hard work
- value material, physical well being over spiritual well being.
Would you agree?
>> I do not agree. Many Koreans have a strong religious orientation. In fact, some friends always pray before they have a meal, have a grateful response to what they do, pray before sleeping and read the Bible. Although some corrupt ministers have privately exploited believer's money, I think it is a "generalization error" to make the same judgment as some of these cases.
Why do different cultures view women differently? (Male superiority in terms of profession or politics)
>> It has been a lot better than in the past, but it is true that in most cultures men still have a higher status than women. This phenomenon occurs because the history of inequality is longer than the history of equality. Thousands of years, mankind has lived with the idea that men are superior, but it has been only a few hundred years since the claim that women and men are equal. It is certain that as time goes by, gender equality will be better.
