Because of the Confucian values, Korea placed more importance on men than women.
In such an atmosphere, male children were educated while female children were employed when there were male and female children in one family.
As a result, women were relatively less admitted to college.
In recent years, however, the Confucian values in Korea are gradually disappearing, so women are increasingly going to college.
