Extra posting (DaYoung Kim)

Q. Poverty in Korea is affecting mostly the elderly.
Why do you think this is the case?

Answer:

Older people can not get a job.

Older people do not receive many benefits even if they seek jobs.
Therefore, there is no means of livelihood maintenance that can not be guaranteed.

The elderly are vulnerable to disease.
As a result, getting older can lead to many diseases.
Once elderly get sick, it costs a lot of money.

Therefore, elderly people who are economically affordable may become poorer once they become sick,

This leads to further poverty.
