Stratification in society means that the dividing layer. Stratification is placed on the basis of economic power. Stratification has a long history of sociology, including income inequality. We think the key word for the word capital of inequality perty attention.

Sociologists also defines a layered as socio-economic status.

Max Weber saw the elements of the Stratification of three.

The first is power. The force is meant to get someone's abilities. However, that Force yen when using this power illegally.

The second property. It means the sum of his possessions and regular income.

Stratification refers to the hierarchical arrangement of people in a society.

[Socioeconomic Status]
Socioeconomic status reflect three characteristics of individuals: power, property, and prestige. Power refers to someone's ability to get ithers to do his/her will, regardless of whether or not they want to. Property, as used in this context, refers to the sum total of one’s possessions as well as their regular income. Prestige refers to the reputation or esteem associated with one’s position in society.

Inequality is long ago, and the idea that there should vbe equality in society emerged in the 17th and 18th centries in the writings of Hobbes and Locke.
First, the rich and powerful protect the system of inequality. Second, culture teaches the acceptance of inequality. Third, people are socialized to accept their position in life. Finally, police, courts, and prisons work together to protect the system of inequality. Much of society seems to encourage and protect the system of inequality.

-Structural-Functionalism ion Stratification
Stratification and inequalities are inevitable and beneficial to society. There are several obvious problems with this approach to stratification. First, it is difficult to determine the functional importance of any job, as the accompanying specialization and inter-dependence make every position necessary to the overall operation. Second, this approach assumes that the system of stratification is fair and rational, and that the ‘best’ people end up on top because of their superiority. Another problem with this approach is that it assumes that only a few ‘chosen’ people should have all the power and all the material wealth, rather than distributing it equitably, or distributing it to those who need it most.

-Conflict Theorists on Stratification
Conflict theorists believe that this competitive system, together with the way the game is ‘fixed’, ends up creating and perpetuating stratification systems. Competition and inequality are not inevitable but are created and maintained by people.

Our position in the international economic system in the world shapes our opportunities throughout our life and our access to important resources. Macro level factors such as policies implemented by the World Bank and International Monetary fund impact the job opportunities, prices of food, water, and electricity, and day to day life for citizens in Cape Verde and around the world.

-Consequences of Inequality
What class we belong to directly relates to our individual life chances. The wealthy and well-educated are much more likely to be in good health, and have access to good medical care than the poor. The poor have shorter life expectancies and are at greater risk for chronic illnesses.

Stratification is symbol of inequality. some people said stratification is better and better, but i don't agree with that opinion. In this time, here Korea, we can find obvious stratification. We, ordinary people work our finger to the born, and pay our taxes. But Soonsil Choi, person close to president, very easily live idle. I think, it is example of stratification of political power.

Summary

 W9's topic is stratification. Stratification refers to distinguished the social class at human. Fundamentally it uses the wealth as a crterion when divides the class. Sociologists define stratification with socioeconomic status. It has three characteristics of individuals(power, property, and prestige).
Power: someone's ability to get others to do his/her will, regardless of whether or not they want to
Property: the sum total of one's possessions as well as their regular income
Prestige: the reputation or esteem associated with one's position in society
and the legitimate power is called authority, the illegitimate power is called coercion.
 In America, society has the gap between the rich and poor. It is inequality. And it is continued. America has three lines of straified. Capitalism increases levels of inequality.

 Today's society has very many inequality. It caused the quarrel, the struggler, the war, and the other many troubles. Besides, the inequality is increasing now. It is really serious problems. Most social inequaltiy was started the stratification. Stratification makes worseness society.

Summary

Stratification means hierarchical arrangement in society. As a result, the stratification is caused by the inequality. Inequality is caused by scarce resources are unfairly distributed. And inequality is very diverse (economic, racial, religious, gender). Sociologists used long time to study the stratification. They have studied extensively such as ‘the causes of inequality’, ‘why inequality is justified’, ‘resolution of inequality’.

In most cases, stratification has mainly based on socioeconomic status. In this case, this is reflected in the personal power, property, prestige and more.

The first inequality began in the settled life. Unlike hunting/gathering life, people except for one that produced food can concentrate on other things except for one that produce food. Since the concept of barter had appeared in society, and soon emerged inequality. The concept of equality appeared with the advent of the Enlightenment ideology. This was the role that tells citizens the reason why we are unequal is because of social structure.

In functionalism, sociologists think inequality conduct the right function elements in society. Also, they consider the phenomenon of stratification is inevitable and beneficial in society. On the other hand, the conflict theory prescribes stratification to be harmful to society. Inequality is thought that maintained by the people, not inevitable.

Inequality appears at the global level. This appears in the income gap between the country and quality of life (poverty, health, education) difference and so on. The reason this happens is a matter of national systems, the exploitation of developed countries

Opinion&Question

Reading the pharase; 'Inequality and poverty didn’t just drop down from the sky, like an apple does from a tree', I think about the stratification in korea. I think there are many inequality in Korea society. And the gap of status becomes bigger more and more. if this phenomenon continue, our society will be waver seriously.
Then, where is the solution? I think it is 'Combat corruption'. Our society, we lived in, especially, lack of integrity including from enterprise to government institiution. the reason is  why think this 'correct investigation is conducted in society'. So, I thought we can do reduce gap between status is 'Monitor the admistration' and 'Clear the ivestigation process'. And, anything else we can imagine??

Opinion:
I think the stratification phenomenon now seems a lot, especially noticeable in Korea.
To avoid the excessive stratification and to block being returned to its past class society, we all will have to use force in order to eliminate inequalities.

Intro; What does Stratification mean in Social?

  Ninth posting of this time, was content about the hierarchy.

Stratification, it is routine in the capitalist society, South Korea, but a matter of course.

Eventually, I tried to read more and more interested in Stratification because a particular incident in Korea that have occurred recently.

The begin of the inequality and private property, occurred from gathering hunting society to the horticulture society.

Two theory about Stratification

  These inequalities are largely divided into two viewpoints.

Functionalist, believes that it is natural for such inequality (hierarchical).

Qualified person in the most functionally important work, ban will be able to accumulate more wealth.

For example, environmental sweeper is a simple labor, the doctor argues wearing advanced technology associated with it, that we should put the difference in terms of after course salary for the hard work. (But I think there’s work value are same) It also argue that people can be reversed in poverty and wealth effort.

However, conflict theory, claims Hierarchy is the harmful thing and the dysfunction of society.

Stratification, rich people in the incomplete the poor people, of making and more accumulated wealth.

In addition, the social system that has been divided into winners and losers make is impoverished society.

I think that two theory has correct and wrong face.

First, In the functionalist point of view, efficiency, that put the difference in salary depending on the capabilities that the day is, empathy. However, Society in hierarchy can’t be changed simply efforts alone.

And from conflict principle point of view, I agree that poor become to incomplete poor people, Rich people can accumulate the more wealth.

At length, it also have sentence "poverty is passed down".

 However, this if all of the world fallen by equality, even would decrease efficiency of workers who worked hard. And, national or global economy would be sluggish.

My experience and question

We are always worried fallen into such dilemma.

This is also reason that why sociology exist.

Now I can be understood in more detail theory of this stratification by virtue of the test study.

By the way, here I have a question. Currently, it is that it is not possible to eradicate the hierarchy that is dig in the capitalist world.
