Introduction to Sociology : Demography
-Through my perspective.
Prologue
Demography is a study of the changes in population, size, distribution and composition, birth, death, migration, and social mobility. A central focus on demographics is to establish a reliable measure of total population, birth rate, marriage and mortality. In most of the history, and in today's world, these measurements represent a very big problem. For example, overpopulation, underpopulation, and so on. Overpopulation is an excessive number of people living in a certain area. It is a phenomenon that can be found in a mainly metropolitan area with high population density. When the population explosion occurs, there are various social and environmental problems. It is a phenomenon that is more prominent in developing countries than in advanced countries.
My thoughts about overpopulation
In the past, the concept of overpopulation focused on food. Currently, we are looking at the overpopulation as a different concept from the past. In reaching industrial societies, few people die of starvation due to food problems. Therefore, the food problem is not considered a big problem.
However, population growth has grown sharply to the point where jobs are not catching up.
Therefore, as the number of people who do not have jobs increases, the gap between rich and poor is widening. This leads to polarization and low social equity. Because people can not get a job, their income is low, and the quality of life naturally falls. Then the crime rate increases and the social complaints also increase. At present, China is experiencing this phenomenon. With industrialization, the producible population is leaving the countryside for more income and a better life. Therefore, the rural to urban migration became severe. A large number of people are entering the city, but the occupation of the city can not catch up with the influx population, and the overpopulation is taking place. However, Korea has an overcrowded form different from China. There is a place to work for the population in Korea. However, nearly 70% of college graduates want higher salaries and a better job. Thus, although the workforce is advanced, the demand for high-quality jobs is not increasing, and the overpopulation of high-quality workforce is showing up. There are, of course, many places of employment on the industrial site. Highly educated people are not satisfied that they are not suitable for these jobs. To solve these problems, we need to pursue diversity in our profession. And the need for specialized education. Many Koreans tend to pursue a specific career. For example, a doctor receives a great salary and receives respect from people. Therefore, young children are forced to have a specific job from their parents since childhood. It is necessary to abandon this social recognition and abandon stereotypes about the profession. Adults should help youth find their aptitude.
The number of schools pointing to courses that are different from general high schools should increase. There is a need to pursue a career that suits the student through the aptitude search project at school. I thought that since I was in elementary school, I had to go to college, of course. I really do not know what I want, and this social flow should disappear.
