Summary

Demography is a study of how population shapes (size, structure, distribution) change. Population-related factors include birth, death, migration, and aging. Demography plays an important role in explaining sociological phenomena, especially in macro-level studies.

The study of the population began as the other elements to explore social change. From the 18th century, it became possible to statistically calculate and study population.
Demography is concerned with certain elements that change the population. Especially, they have much interest in birth, mortality and migration trend.
Factors associated with birth are 1 (the ability of a woman to have a healthy child) and 2 (a potential reproductive ability of a woman). There are six measurement methods that use these. It also studies minimum birth rates to maintain population through replace level. In recent years, birth rates have been declining, starting with developed countries, and this has been found to be strongly related to the educational level of women.
There are three ways to measure mortality. The mortality rate is not affected by the degree of development of the country, unlike the birth rate. Interestingly, in the recent study, education was selected as the greatest element to make longevity. There are five factors related to longevity.
As welfare improves globally, overpopulation also occurs. The overpopulation is a phenomenon in which individuals lack sufficient resources to survive. If it gets worse, it can cause famine, plague, and war.
Another phenomenon related to population is urbanization. Urbanization is the phenomenon that the population is concentrated toward the city as the city expands. As the population is concentrated, rural areas are more likely to fall behind, and cities can suffer from overpopulation.

Opinion&Question
During this week, I read about Demography. And I know there is a notion of Demography few days ago. Because I think population just is a factor that other research field use for sociological goal. So, I'm interested population also constructly is searched at first.

And a part of I can see interestingly is about the change of birth, morality rate.
This part was very familiar for many people and it means this research was popular and credible. this was the same for me. the relation between population and woman is the hottest topic, important factor to understand modern society.

Finally, I want to learn more about the solution of overpopulation.
In the aspect of equal distribution, I want to find the new solution in the view of utilitarianism, 'The greatest happiness of the greatest number'.
