1_What I learned with 14th week Wikipedia link.
Demography is the study about dynamics of human population. A demographic analysis is a sophisticated tool that can explain many social phenomena. Thus, the sociologist should prioritize the demographic indicators for possible explanations.
#Demographic Indicators: Fertility & Fecundity.
Demographers focus on specific indicators of change, the most important two of which are fertility(called also fecundity) and mortality.
-Fertility
Fertility, in demography, refers to the ability of females to produce healthy offspring in abundance. Another important demographic concept relating to fertility is replacement level. Replacement level fertility refers to the number of children that a woman has to have to replace the existing population. Sub-replacement fertility is a fertility rate that is not sufficiently high to replace the existing population.
-Fecundity
Fecundity is the potential reproductive capacity of a female.
Some of more common demographic, which are used in relation to fecundity and/or fertility include:
• crude birth rate
• general fertility rate
• total fertility rate
• gross reproduction rate
• net reproduction rate
#Effects of Overpopulation

Many critics argue that if there is on other action, simply feeding the world's population will only aggravate the problem. Natural growth will continue to grow to unsustainable level, and it will lead to a direct epidemic of disease, deforestation.
2_ Mention & Question about this week study.
I've never thought about population problem. However, this week link has become an opportunity to seriously think about population problem. In summary, I only deal with overpopulation, but there is the underpopulation in Korea. I think this problem is due to the poor welfare of our country.
Korea's companies often ask about the planning of marriage and planning about having children when women are interviewed for a job. This is because the idea of giving birth to a child is rife with damage to the company.
I wonder classmates' opinion. What do you think about Korea's underpopulation?
Thanks for reading my posting : )
Your mention & question is quite interesting and I agree with that.
ReplyDeleterecognition about human right like right of freedom and equality is developed in today, and also people want to enjoy their right. However, prejudice, childbirth and child care is only women’s work, is still exist, and it make women to avoid marriage and childbirth because women do not want to be oppressed, and want to enjoy their right and also make rational decision in their life. if people have child rearing obligation equally, people(especially women) will want childbirth.
The underpopulation of Korea may have occurred naturally when we consider the social environment of Korea.
ReplyDeleteKorea has an environment where it is difficult to raise children.
Especially women with jobs are forced to give up one because it is difficult to work and raise children at the same time.
This social environment should be improved as soon as possible in order to solve the problem of low fertility.
